Dear Faculty Association Members,

As we embark on a new academic year, I am reminded of our Faculty Association motto: "Unity is Strength." To build trust and foster stronger shared governance, the Faculty Association is committed to enhancing transparency and open communication with all faculty members. This year will be a time of listening, gathering information for data-driven decisions, and understanding your needs to better serve and support you. Your participation and voices are crucial for driving the positive changes we all wish to see. Together, we can create a culture where every faculty member feels heard and valued.

Right now, we have one open position on the FA Executive Board: Communications Chair. Please email me (Rachel.Marcial@slcc.edu) if you are interested in that position.

Rachel Marcial

President, SLCC Faculty Association

Your benefits for joining are essential to your work. Faculty Association advocates for your salary, raises, rank advancement, fair treatment, workload, sick leave, medical benefits, retirement benefits, and more.

Are there dues?

Full-time faculty dues are minimal, only $2 auto-withdrawal per paycheck. The dues pay attorneys who advise and support FA faculty, two scholarships for students, member supplies, and more. Adjunct faculty dues are optional.

When and where are the meetings?

Faculty Association meetings are held on Wednesday of every month (from September through April) from 2:30pm until 4:30 p.m. Attendance is optional, but if you want your voice to be heard, the Faculty Association general meeting is the place to make it happen. We are meeting via ZOOM - so no worries about commuting to a campus. An Outlook calendar invite and link to the meeting each month will be sent out via the All Faculty email. Keep checking back for updated information.

What is the difference between Faculty Association and Faculty Senate?
