CCNA Security
Course description
This course covers the materials that a student would need to prepare for the Cisco CCNA Security Exam 210-260. Cisco Certified Network Associate Security (CCNA Security) validates associate-level knowledge and skills required to secure Cisco networks. With a CCNA Security certification, a network professional demonstrates the skills required to develop a security infrastructure, recognize threats and vulnerabilities to networks, and mitigate security threats. The CCNA Security curriculum emphasizes core security technologies, the installation, troubleshooting and monitoring of network devices to maintain integrity, confidentiality and availability of data and devices, and competency in the technologies that Cisco uses in its security structure.

Course Materials
Cisco Academy v2.0 CCNA Security materials. These are provided for free by Cisco.
Students need Internet access at school or at home to complete some assignments. They will also need access to or a computer with a minimum of 8GB or RAM and 250 GB of hard drive.

Communication throughout the semester will be via Canvas in the announcement section. It is your responsibility to read and follow instructions posted in Canvas. Failure to do so could adversely effect your grade since you might miss assignments, quizzes, and/or exams.
Grading
All courses in the Computer Science department will use the following grade scale:

The grade weights for the course will be:
50 percent of your grade will be based on Chapter exams. You need to read the Chapter and take the exam. The exams are open book.
25 percent of your grade is hands on labs on equipment or packet tracer.
25 percent Tests/Exams - Tests/Exams will be worth twenty-five percent of your score and will comprise of at least a Mid-term and Final Exam
Extra credit
Depending on your instructor, extra credit may be available inyour Computer Sciences and Information Systems course. If offered, extra credit may not exceed 3% of the final weighted grade for the course.
Late work
Unless prior arrangements have been made with the instructor, all assignments are due on the designated due date. Late work may be submitted one week (7 calendar days) following the due date with a late penalty as determined by the instructor. Any work submitted after one week of the due date will receive a 0.
Academic dishonesty
Academic dishonesty, including cheating, plagiarism, misrepresentation or collaboration, will not be tolerated in the Computer Sciences and Information Systems department. On the first offense--be it confirmed or merely suspected--the student and the Department Chair will be notified in writing by the instructor. On the second offense, the student will receive an E for the course and meet with the Department Chair about their future at SLCC.
Classroom courtesy
Anything that may disrupt class (cell phones, pagers, etc.) must be turned off or placed in silent mode. Texting, checking email, surfing the net, playing games and other non-class related activities are also considered distractions and are not welcome.
