Hey students! I’m Erika Hernandez, and I'm excited to join you in exploring the world of IT and cybersecurity. With a Master’s degree in Cybersecurity and with my years of hands-on experience in the IT field, I bring a unique blend of real-world and academic knowledge to our classroom. I currently lead the Cybersecurity Foundations program at Salt Lake Community College, helping students prepare for CompTIA A+ and Security+ certifications through practical learning and real-world applications.

In addition to my teaching role, I served as the Director of IT and Security for a local company, where I manage a wide range of security protocols to keep data safe and operations secure. My passion lies in helping students build the skills and confidence they need to succeed in today’s fast-paced IT industry. I look forward to learning and growing together as we work through the course material and develop a deeper understanding of cybersecurity essentials!

Alex Martin, Instructor

Hello! I'm Alex Martin and I've been teaching cybersecurity since early 2020 and have enjoyed sharing my knowledge and experience with students throughout the years.

I have my Bachelor's degree in IT and my Master's degree in Cybersecurity. I've worked in various industries like home automation, data loss prevention, banking, software development, patch management, manufacturing and IoT. My main focus is on blue team cybersecurity (protecting companies from attacks) but in order to be successful I have to learn how red teams work (hacking or attacking companies).

When I'm not working, I'm building new computers, playing video games, or riding my electric skateboard.

I look forward to teaching fun new topics related to computers and cybersecurity!
