Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA)
FAFSA Links to an external site. is the application your student will need to fill out for financial aid.
When your student goes to the FAFSA website they will need the following items:
- SLCC Federal School Code: 005220
- Tax Returns from 2 years back, your students and/or if still declared a dependent, your student’s parents tax returns. If possible, use the IRS DATA Retrieval Tool.

The Different Types of Financial Aid:
Pell Grant
Money awarded to students based on need. This money does not need to be paid back. SLCC can and will supplement this with the SLCC Promise (Links to an external site.).
Loans
Borrowed money from the government and must be paid back after graduation.

Subsidized loans – does not accrue interest while enrolled. Unsubsidized loans – does accrue interest while enrolled. |
Work-Study
Provides part-time jobs for students to help pay for educational expenses.
