Canvas User Credential Course
There are so many features available in Canvas, and this Quick Start Guide has only scratched the surface! Would you like to learn more? Check out the Canvas User Credential Links to an external site. -- it's a self-paced online course (facilitated by SLCC's eLearning
team) that goes into far more detail about the powerful features of Canvas.
Here are some of the topics you'll explore:
- Using navigation elements and components of Canvas to customize menus, modules, and pages
- Importing content from one course to another
- Additional options for storing your syllabus in a course
- Using the building blocks of Canvas (pages and modules) to assemble a course
- Creating assignments (including quizzes and discussions) and grading assignments in Speedgrader
- Using the media tools in Canvas to create and add video, audio, and images to your courses
- Using communication tools (including announcements and videoconferences)
The Canvas User Credential course requires you to demonstrate your competency with Canvas, so it takes a more thorough approach to these tools, showing you different options for creating content in Canvas as well as time-saving strategies.
The Canvas User Credential course is offered each semester. You can register for the course by clicking on the Register for Training button under the Employee tab in MySLCC, just as you would register for any other faculty development training. Adjunct faculty need approval from their associate dean to take the course.
